This Counts as Practice
A vlogger I used to watch1 had a thing going on where he would go and make a new vlog everyday as a way to explore new places and sharpen his video editing and vlogging skills. As I also really want to improve my writing skills and not doom scroll all day, I will attempt to write something everyday2.
So I finally ended up starting and finishing the book Maoism3 that I bought last year and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. My English reading muscles have gotten quite a bit weaker since high school so it did take a bit of mental effort to get through. I also didn’t realize that the author was a famous Sinologist so that was a nice bonus too. Makes me feel like a proper bourgeois academic4.
As for Japanese stuff, I finally watched an episode of anime in what feels like a very long time. I was tryna watch Kimagure Orange Road originally but for the first time in my life I saw hard subs on crunchyroll so I settled for Mob Psycho. Pretty sure this was something I watched way back when, but since none of it rings a bell, it basically feels like a fresh watch. The animation is great, so no complaints there. Just need to figure out how to set up the hard drive to stream all the torrented anime.
Mudan who is the videographer for the trash taste podcast. He was in Japan for a year and made a vlog everyday. Cool stuff↩
I’ve lost track of the number of times I said this. Please do not go through the history of this blog to find out↩
Yes it’s an English book. Sue me. Great book about the legacy of Mao Zedong’s political philosophy both within China and internationally as well↩
I may also be a raging leftist now. That remains to be seen↩
